What is a good book to give to my year old niece-10?

What kind of books are the girls of that age these days? Hopefully nothing that most kids and stuff, but maybe I'm just an old fogy uncle … Are there appropriate books come to mind?

The history of the school, by Andrew Clements is actually good. No guys are not worried at all, but a sixth grader who writes an excellent book. His best friend read and pushing for the publication, the book takes you through his journey that the book becomes a bestseller. It is a very good, funny book by a brilliant author, who tells children with no dreams are out of bounds. Who Stole Halloween? is a book of mystery, also very entertaining, about a boy who tries to find a Cat Napper. Of course it is a book of Halloween, so maybe a little out of season. Harry Potter books, which get into relationships in later books, but the first three are not mentioned at all. It is likely that your niece has not read, and who can not read most of the time during which the books were published and the series was that-thing. A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. Hilarious books with a long series of her niece to keep on reading! Most libraries have the whole (Or copies) to not have to buy the rest of the books unless she wants. Anything by Louis Sachar, author of Holes particularly hilarious and roadside school series. Hoyos is deeper and more of a mystery, while the school on the edge of the road is more absurd is guaranteed to keep children in points suture. PS DO NOT buy the series Twilight for her, the whole book is about a man and a vampire who fall in love and proceed to have sex.
