e-reader is best for me?

I want a brief e-reader. I do not need wireless connectivity. I'd like a dictionary. I wish I could to charge different formats on my computer. What is the best? Price-wise and functionally. I've heard of the Kobo, but know very little about them. Also some e-readers use their own proprietary software that forces you to buy your books online. Any suggestions?

I recently went through the same thing in the search an electronic book reader. I tried Sony's readers, but found them rather slow. Besides, did not really have a lot of memory without have to pay much money. Flipping the pages was a pain, the software to upload files and keeps crashing could take hours for even the smallest files. I do not like the fact that he could not organize my files in any logical way. The Kobo looks like a nice device, but I have not had the opportunity testing. I ended up choosing the corner of Barnes and Nobel. I like that I can point out (and export are highlighted) in the EPUB books, turning pages naturally through touch sensitive pad of the thumb, I can go to page or chapter or bookmark, I can add bookmarks, which come with a lot of memory and can be expanded economically (I have 8BG in mine now!). I can organize all my books in folders which makes it very easy to find things. Uploading is simple and done via USB. The screen is large, enough (not as big as DX Kindle though), has a sleep mode that automatically activates after 10 minutes or less of anything. I can find books on the device library or through the BN. Read all kinds of document types and I'm not linked to the BN. The 3G functionality keeps me connected to the BN (what is good and bad thing). The ability Wireless is what sold me through Kindle. Wireless is a bit slow and the browser is lame, but I can at least can check and respond to e-mail when I'm on the road with him. It also has a nice set of accessories such as covers and back. The price is now down to about $ 150. Nice! Although I bought mine for much more than that. Kindle – I could not try without buying, so I did not buy.
